Vicky Vaughn
Vicky Vaughn was the junior division of R & M Kaufmann, Illinois.  The Kaufman brothers began making ladies dresses in 1922. They built their business by producing high quality but moderately priced dresses, undergarments and sleepwear.  In the 1930’s, Kaufmann revolutionised the garment industry by adding their own novel embroidery, applique and cornelli trim, while other garment manufacturers continued to rely on New York trim manufacturers. The Kaufmann's were able to keep prices low by mass producing garments in their own factories. The motto was "Only the LOOK is expensive."  Sales grew steadily through the use of full page advertisements in Seventeen, Mademoiselle, Life and Charm magazines, as well as the use of live television commercials  The Kaufmann's also produced the Toni Todd  and Lady Laura lines.  The company was sold to Russ Togs in 1969.  In 1988 the Kaufmann family bought the firm back from Russ Togs and continued operations into the 1990’s when it was sold to Global Clothing, Inc. With the love of the rag trade in the family blood for nearly a century, the Kaufmann's grandson was retained as executive helping a younger generation garment company thrive in an ever increasingly competitive worldwide market.

Condition

Very good condition - presents beautifully.  The last photo shows a pulled thread on the upper right shoulder, it's hardly noticeable. The only other thing worth noting is that the colours may not be as vibrant as they would have been originally. The only reason I say this is that I've had this dress before and it was slightly darker- but it really doesn't show on the dress itself - is looks fabulous!

Please note that these are vintage items that have been used and loved over the years, As such, they may display slight evidence of their age. Any notable flaws above and beyond this will be highlighted here.

Comment

This is such a beautiful and feminine dress from one of my favourite labels. So much detail in the bodice and upper skirt. Please drop us a line if you require additional information about this listing.

We now offer an alternate express delivery service via DHL for those of you who want your packages more expediently. This option is currently delivering packages within a seven-day timeframe from pick-up.
