Description
* Vintage 1960s commercially made evening gown/maxi dress
* Matelasse fabric with a black background and raised silver floral pattern
* Classic silhouette with a fitted waist and A-line skirt
* Bodice is sleeveless with a chemise neckline
* Bodice fabric is gathered immediately under each bust with a self-fabric bow at centre front
* Skirt has gathers at each hip that extend through to back
* Back with Inward sloping shoulder straps and metal zipper
* Bodice is lined with a built-in corset

Frank Usher
Opened for business in 1946 in London, the company’s specialty was to bring high end detailing and 'fresh off the runway' inspirations at a moderate price range. This excerpt from Woman and Beauty Magazine 1961 says it all: " A passion for perfection in all the elegant clothes which bear the Frank Usher label. Once upon a time, a girl who yearned for a fabulous gown either had to part with her lifetime’s savings- or settle down to sew one herself. Not so today. Since Frank Usher came onto the fashion scene, any girl with a grand occasion ahead can buy a spectacular dress or ball gown, at a cost that won’t wreck a modest piggy bank. Maybe this is the quality that makes Frank Usher dresses outstanding". More recently, the company went into receivership in 2001, was sold to management, and was then purchased by the Simma Corporation. The Usher warehouse and distribution plant was moved from London to Stoke to streamline operations. Currently, the company produces four different collections of evening wear and versatile separates: Frank Usher, Dusk, Coterie, and Bridal.

Excellent.
No notable flaws that I can see, it is in great condition for its age.

This item is within our selling stock. In the unlikely event that two buyers purchase this item concurrently, payment will be immediately refunded to the latter purchaser. We apologise in advance should this rare circumstance arise.
Postage
We make every effort to post your item within 1-3 days of payment. Should a circumstance arise where we are unable to post within this timeframe (eg we are away at a fair) we will contact you immediately. Please note that our postage charges are based on standard international and domestic air packages - all with tracking. If you want to upgrade to express postage or require insurance, please contact us prior to checkout and we will adjust the rates accordingly.
LayBys/Layaways
Yes we do offer flexible layby/layaway options and are open to negotiation as to the time period. Obviously, the more expensive the item the longer the time you will have to finalise payment. Contact us to see how accommodating we can be :)
Alterations
Obviously, as these are one-off pieces, the fit may not be quite what you need. To this end, we also offer an alteration service by professional seamstresses. Please shoot us an email outlining what you want and we will quickly respond with a quote and timeframe. Costs are kept to a minimum for this service.
