Jackie Morgan, California was a dress designer who was active during the 1950s - 1960s. He appears to have been quite passionate about dress design and fabrics, as he conducted numerous fashion parades to showcase not only his latest fashions but also gave talks on current fashion trends and dress materials. He was mainly active in the Los Angeles, Pasadena and Long Beach areas, as well as further north in San Rafael, the county seat of wealthy Marin County. Here, he provided exclusive lines to the local, now defunct, department store Luana’s. One of the special features of this label was the wide range of colourful large print floral cotton dresses that it produced during its heyday. These eye-catching, colourful dresses are hugely popular today.
This beautiful dress is in very good condition for its age, no major blemishes that I can see other than the dress may not be as white as it was originally. I have soaked the dress a couple of times and it has come up much brighter than it was and presents beautifully. Shown with an added crinoline for demonstration purposes only.
