* Fabric design features fully blown red roses with rosebuds with green leaves
* Classic silhouette with cinched waist and full skirt
* Short capped sleeved bodice with scooped oval neckline
* Bodice has curved darting all the way to mid sleeve
* Self piping around neckline and sleeves
* Very full boxed pleated skirt
* Unlined bodice, raw seams with hand finished hem
* Low back with metal zipper

California Cottons
Very little information if available on the history of this label. Research indicates that the label probably originated in the United States but was heavily marketed within in the United Kingdom. During the 1950s and1960s however, the manufacturing was done exclusively in Britain, with the actual design work was outsourced to the United States . The clothing from this label is very eye catching and beautifully detailed. To the extent where California Cottons matches the quality and styling of Horrockses Fashions. While its history may be a little vague, its collectability is not. The label is highly prized today.(Thanks to Liz at Advantage in Vintage)
Condition
Full blown re rose printed cotton is highly sought after and the print on this dress is so beautiful. Furthermore, it's in excellent condition for its age. No notable flaws that I can see, other than the dress appears to have been taken in sightly and done with very small hand stitching. It can be left as is without any problem or it can easily be machined. Not an issue either way. Cleaned and ready to wear.
