Toni Todd

R & M Kaufmann, Inc was inaugurated in Aurora, Illinois during the 1900s. The owners were brothers who produced high quality but moderately priced dresses and sleepwear. They were able to keep prices low by mass producing garments in their own factories.  In fact, their motto was "Only the LOOK is expensive."  Sales grew steadily through the use of full page advertisements in SeventeenMademoiselle and Charm magazines as well as the use of live television commercials on shows such as "Beat the Clock."  The Kaufmann's produced under several labels, including the Toni Todd line which specifically targeted younger women.  The company was sold to Russ Togs in 1969.

Beautiful dress and bolero set wit the most fabulous trompe l'oeil optical print.. It's had use but remains in excellent condition overall. Some fraying to the bolero jacket internally but not noticeable from the outside nor does it impact on the integrity of the seams. Such a gorgeous piece!! Cleaned and ready to wear.
