Raoul Couture was a highly respected fashion house based in Flinders Lane, Melbourne from around 1955 until 1963.  The head designer was Leonard Legge. All the garments from this label have been top  quality and display an appreciation of fine fabrics – generally silk or wool, with embellishments. The label is one of the upper eschelon, sitting well respected amongst collectable contemporaries like Le Louvre, Hall Ludlow and Magg.  Legge went on to work for another Australian high fashion label Prue Acton. The Brighton Historical Society in Victoria holds a small collection of Hartnell and Raoul Couture garments, including a Gown of the Year Award-winning dress donated by Ralph Samuel. Condition

Excellent.

No notable flaws that I can see -  other than some aging to the silk decorative ribbon at the hips. Nothing really major but can easily be substituted with a new ribbon if desired. All in all, It's really in wonderful condition for its age. (The rose brooch added for photographic purposes only)

Please note that these are vintage items that have been used and loved over the years, As such, they may display slight evidence of their age. Any notable flaws above and beyond this will be highlighted here.

Comment
