The Fashion Originators Guild (FOGA) was formed in 1932 to protect its members from piracy - a practice that was disturbingly rife during this period. The Guild and its members refused to sell any apparel to retailers who purchased dresses that the Guild found were direct copies or contained important elements of their members' designs. The Guild was particularly concerned with medium and high–priced, fashionable women's dresses and approved retailers were able to select their purchases from exclusive showrooms in New York. Although this system was effective in stemming the theft of garment designs, the Guild ran into trouble with the Federal Trade Commission in 1936 and in 1941 the Supreme Court held that the Guild’s practices violated the Sherman Antitrust Act, thus ending the use of self-help trade restrictions.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition.

It's in great condition for its age, a tiny bit of seam stress and the bottom of the zipper has a very slight nick hardly seen.

Please note that these are vintage items that have been used and loved over the years, As such, they may display slight evidence of their age. Any notable flaws will be highlighted here.

Comment

A beautiful and sophisticated ensemble of the period.

The listing is for the dress only and does not include any other accessories that may have been photographed with the item.

This item has not been pinned to the dress form.

Shop Policies

COVID-19

Unfortunately, the pandemic has resulted in a backlog of parcels worldwide. Our local Postal Service continues to operate at increased capacity and assures us that packages will arrive at their destination, albeit with a noticeably longer timeframe.

We now offer an alternate express delivery service via DHL for those of you who want your packages more expediently. This option is currently delivering packages within a seven-day timeframe from pick-up.

Availability
This item is within our selling stock. In the unlikely event that two buyers purchase this item concurrently, payment will be immediately refunded to the latter purchaser. We apologise in advance should this rare circumstance arise.

Postage
