Description
* Vintage late 1950s dress and jacket ensemble
* Fabric is cotton in a buttercup yellow colour with pintucks
* Silhouette is in a wiggle shape with a cinched waist
* Dress has a chemise neckline with straight skirt
* Matching elbow-length sleeved jacket with jewelled collar
* Both dress and jacket have contrasting gold braid with embroidery
* Matching belt with decorative bows at front
* Side metal zipper, no lining facing only to jacket and dress

Established in 1938, the Carlye Dress Corporation focused on designing fashion lines tailored exclusively for younger women. This hugely popular company grew to become one of the greatest junior wear fashion labels in the USA. It maintained its popularity right through to the early 1960s. Signature fashion elements for the brand were the prolific use of lace inserts and pin-tucking in their clothing designs, and their high-quality construction techniques. The business was taken over by the clothing manufacturing giant Leslie Fay in the mid-1960s and subsequently merged into their existing lines.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition.
No notable flaws that I can see - other than one pin dot of discolour - it's so small, literally a fleck, and hardly noticed - mentioned for accuracy.
